Lost & Crazy

Lost & Crazy is an art exhibition of my work from 2001-2009. It is a collection of pencil and pen on paper drawings. This was a distinct period of time in my life, and I feel it is a chapter that has indeed been finished. The elements created for the event include posters, a brochure, and a mobile app for the exhibition. For the type to be used in a logo Neuland immediately came to mind. While I often hear my work described as surreal, I consider it to be more on the expressionist side of art. With that, I borrowed the chunky woodcut style from the German Expressionists of the last century. I chose Lost & Crazy for the title because I feel this summarizes that time in my life and the work that came out of it. The brochure gives general information on the exhibit and on the artist. It isn’t meant to show the exhibit in it’s entirety but merely show details of various pieces. For the posters I wanted much of the space to be used to show the artwork, with information about the exhibit in a space to the left. The little character used in the logo is rotated to remain upright when used in a vertical format. The outdoor banners are full bleed images with text set on top. The mobile application is designed to give the user information on the museum, the work in the exhibit, and on the artist. Also available in the app is an audio tour guide. The guide works with proximity sensors in the fames of the artwork, so the visitor can skip around and not have to worry about viewing works in a certain order. Users can also pause the recording, or manually override the guide. The audio tour will work in the background if the user switches apps. A gallery of work is available in the app. The user can zoom in for detail, and tap the image to view the “back” of the image to see information about it.
